Ann Pybus

Ann Pybus, known as Pybus, is a Brighton-based artist celebrated for her bold use of colour, texture, and innovative materials. Originally from Ireland, she brings a rich and varied background to her work, drawing on her experience in fashion, interior design, architecture, and property development.

Her creative journey began in the fashion world, where she worked in buying and merchandising for the Arcadia Group. These early experiences sharpened her sense of colour, composition, and trends. Later, she moved into interior design and property development, where she learned how art can transform a space and shape its atmosphere.

Ann’s transition into fine art grew naturally from her restoration projects in France and the UK. She created original works to complement the homes she renovated, often selling them alongside the properties. Clients soon began commissioning her art, drawn to the way her pieces blended visual impact with a strong sense of place.

In her latest collection, Ann explores recycled polystyrene combined with acrylic paints. This mix allows her to create rich textures and striking depth, turning each canvas into a tactile experience. She pairs bold colours with graphic forms, producing statement works that feel both modern and timeless.

Her practice reflects adventure, vibrancy, and sustainability. Each piece tells a story while inviting viewers to connect with its surface, texture, and energy. Whether hanging in a private home or a public space, her work carries the same intention: to ignite conversation and bring life to its surroundings.

Ann Pybus continues to expand her practice, pushing the boundaries of material and design while creating art that feels as dynamic as the world around her.
