Serious delirium of a coffee junky

MA001-Serious delirium of a coffee junky

This painting, “Serious Delirium of a Coffee Junky,” draws inspiration from Jim Jarmusch’s film “Coffee and Cigarettes,” where Bill Murray plays a bartender with an obsession for coffee, and the RZA and JZA from the Wu-Tang Clan try to curbs caffeine addiction. The piece has an amusing and surreal backstory. One night, I dreamt I was security guard in an art museum. As I sat there with my book, Iggy Pop and TomWaits approached to examine the painting behind me. They discussed its style, colours, and the emotions it evoked. Intrigued, I turned around to see the very painting you see now.The dream was so vivid and peculiar that the next day, I dressed as a security guard and took the painting to the streets. I created a small art installation on a public wall, turning the urban space into a street museum. The installation garnered significant attention, attracting many people to my work. This painting embodies the whimsical and dreamlike quality of that experience, blending reality and imagination in a way that captures the viewer’s curiosity and sense of wonder.Size: 32” by 42”Technique painting: Acrylic, Oil, Chalk, Oil Pastels and spray paint on canvas 40″ by 32”
