“Eros, the God of love, may be responsible for inspiring passion and desire, but he is not one to outsource the labour-intensive task of grinding, by hand, one by one, his own arrows. He is in his element surrounded by his trusted machinist, who is turning a motor shaft with precision, the no-nonsense welder, who expertly MIG welds a butt joint, and the apprentice, who meticulously rubs chalk on a file. Together, they share a sense of camaraderie and respect for each other, forged through eons of sweat, slag, swarf, and sparks. Oh, and plenty of lubricating oil!”
