This painting is a play on words, as the Golden Eagle is in fact painted in shades of Black and white, with the background popping out in a bold gold tone. Eagles are known for their strength and power, so I wanted to depict a strong painting that will capture your attention across the room. However, you will see layers of textured hearts in the background which I created using textured paste, before applying the gold wash. These hearts show a soft, purer side to the Eagle. Eagles mate for 10 months of the year, so I was keen to subtly show their character in some way.
