When I visit Valencia I love to cycle down to the south city beaches via La Punta, a forgotten town with it´s surrounding area of allotment gardens and agricultural smallholdings. Ramon sells divine, sun-warmed vegetables, freshly picked daily, from his tiny stall. Here he is returning from the chicken pen with fresh eggs. My favourite thing about this painting is the long, dry August grass behind the stall which I think I somehow managed to capture using the spatula.
