Tim Roney is a renowned photographer with a career spanning over 40 years, capturing some of the most iconic figures in music, television, and politics.
After studying photography in Salisbury, Tim moved to London in the early 1980s, quickly establishing himself as a regular contributor to Radio Times. His work expanded into television, shooting stills for major production companies such as Channel 4, Hat Trick, and Celador, as well as publications including The Sunday Telegraph Magazine and The Economist. His portfolio features a wide range of subjects, from acclaimed actors and comedians to writers, musicians, and politicians, both in the studio and on location.
Tim’s passion for music photography took him around the world, working closely with Smash Hits, Top of the Pops, and CD:UK Magazine. During this time, he photographed some of the biggest names in the industry, from Take That, the Spice Girls, and Boy George to Usher, Pink, Justin Timberlake, and Pharrell Williams.
His work has been published internationally in Rolling Stone, Billboard, and countless other media outlets, as well as appearing in numerous documentaries and films exploring the cultural landscape of the ’80s, ’90s, and ’00s. Over the years, he has photographed everyone from Margaret Thatcher and Cardinal Basil Hume to French & Saunders, Pamela Anderson, Janet Jackson, and REM.
