Method: Hand built with repetitive layered coils to create the strong structure, the outside edges are teased to paper thin thickness creating a fragile and translucent quality.
Material: Unglazed Porcelain paper-clay to reflect natural beauty of the material.
Description: Strength & Fragility portrays how beautiful and interesting we are when we reveal and refraining from shielding what makes us uniquely human: Our fragility.
Interiorly you can see strength comes from our core. Without the core structure the absorbing texture and fragility is unable to exist. Without the fragile texture the core is in essence one-dimensional.
Completing the metaphor, the pieces can only be moved by the interior structure of the piece.
This piece can be displayed with mutli-coloured Phillips Hue lights, controlled and programmed to sequences remotely on a smart phone.
