Elephants – AA001

Acrylic on canvas depicting the Royal Pavilion when lit with projection for the Brighton festival in 2016 by Tom Piper. Of many projections the one of walking elephants is a nod to the fact the Pavilion is inspired buy the Taj Mahal. The reflection in the Lilly pond gives the painting perspective.

What inspired the artist to create this piece: The pavilion is an amazing building though normally a little bland in colour, Tim Piper did an amazing job at designing such wonderful colourful projection I had to paint it, though it took time, I used acrylic for two reasons, one the neon colours capture better than oils, and with so many Colours I didn’t want them to merge too easily like they can with oils.
