I call myself an intuitive painter, I start a painting with a feeling… an idea, I don’t have any reason or rhyme for what or how I paint, it seems to flow out of me naturally.
My paintings are extremely personal and evolve a great deal during my creative process: they start as a singular brush stroke and change and grow through hundreds of compositions, colour palettes and textures before I decide that I am finished… usually looking completely different to the idea I had at the beginning of the process. All my paintings celebrate bright colours and high contrasts, even my more pale and conservative paintings include some form of intense colour burst.
I find it extremely hard to limit my colour palette, usually ending up with a mass of frenzied brush strokes and scratches, somehow forming themselves into a pleasing composition with a less than subtle choice of colours.
