More likely to be found at comic-cons, alternative fashion fairs, science conferences or stealing techniques from cannabis pipe makers, this flameworker is rarely found in galleries. With a blend of traditional Italian & scientific glass techniques using Pyrex glass he creates unique jewellery, pens, marbles & sculptures often with space sea, or fantasy themes.

Working directly in an oxygen/propane flame each item is totally handmade using borosilicate glass (known commonly by the ‘Pyrex’ Trade name.) The unusual nature and very high metal content of borosilicate coloured glass produces colours unlike those normally found in the ‘traditional’ glass palette. The intense colours, metallic lusters and ability of some colours to change with the light make this the ideal material to produce work that looks alien and other-worldly.

With over 14 years of experience under his ‘SteamPunk Glass ’ alias he has studied under top glass artists, as well as teaching others culminating in 2015 being invited to be guest artist at UK ‘Flame Off’ demonstrating to an international audience of lampworkers, along side select artists from Russia, USA and France. His work has sold to collectors in over 30 countries, makes glass presentation pens for a European academic association where some where even presented to Nobel prize winners, and one of his galaxy marbles has appeared as a major prop in an Australian feature film.
