Guests with disabilities are able to access our venue in same way as other visitors and our window is equipped with a Disability Access buzzer should a patron require further assistance. Doorways throughout the Gallery are wide enough to facilitate even larger wheelchairs and electric/motorised disability aids.

Reception

Our reception desk at the Gallery is at an appropriate height for people in wheelchairs, and a warm welcoming experience is afforded to all patrons.

Toilets

The Gallery has fully equipped accessible toilets for patrons with disabilities.

Gallery Layout

When laying out the Gallery, we ensure that there is enough space between aisles in to allow for an easy movement for any wheelchair users. We also ensure that there is sufficient space for wheelchair users to turn. There are no ramps or steps to navigate in the Gallery.

Lighting

Our lighting in the Gallery accommodates those with visual impairment.
We have considered the lighting and we ask to be made aware of any guests that rely on interpreters and lip readers so we can ensure that they can see them well enough.
Any transitions from dark to light need are a gradual process. We also have warnings ahead of time for any flickering lights, strobe lighting and flash photography for anyone that has epilepsy.

Sound

Sound is an important factor with our accessibility considerations. There are many factors that are considered when it comes to the sound we use.
These include:
  • Ensuring the sound in all rooms is at a good and comfortable volume
  • Using our induction loop in the main Gallery to aid the hearing of anyone with hearing aids.

Catering

Our catering facilities are accessible for everyone.
Dietary requirements go hand in hand with a positive experience at The Brighton Box Gallery. The food we provide to our patrons caters for a range of different diets and allergies.
Foods are clearly labelled with allergen information and there is always a vegetarian and vegan option available so that all patrons have the choice of something to eat.

Fire Exits

All our fire exits can be accessed by everyone, including wheelchair users. There is an evacuation procedure in place for evacuating any guests that have mobility impairments and this is available, on request by emailing info@thebrightonbox.com
Fire alarms are visible and audible to everyone and all patrons are made aware of where the fire exits are located should they need to evacuate. Call points are also located at wheelchair height.

Guide/Service Dogs

All dogs are welcome at The Brighton Box Gallery and our furry friends are very well catered for with access to water, treats and open space, (at the rear of the Gallery) to be utilised as necessary.
